RICS - Measuring ‘Green Value’: An International Perspective Oct 01, 2014

A RICS research that provides the industry with a more consistent and international picture of the value impacts of environmental performance, 'green' property.

Environmental performance and sustainability metrics are increasingly considered important criteria in the property investment decision and better knowledge of the pricing of sustainable real estate may lead to increased investment in sustainability and energy efficiency in a number of countries including the UK, US, Japan and Finland.

The research aims to broaden the existing evidence base using new data sources while at the same time deepening the research on the dynamics of the well-researched markets such as the US office market using more extensive and more in-depth datasets.

Three international case studies of ‘green value’ were conducted (one each in Finland, Japan and the United States) and conclusions drawn from these results regarding the existence of a green premium across countries and property types.
